🎶 Desi Singers Group — Celebrated 20 Years of Singing! 🎶

On Saturday, September 19, 2026 More than 80 family members united by a passion for singing gathered at Rishtta Banquet Hall in Parsippany, New Jersey, to celebrate Desi Singers Group’s wonderful 20-year musical journey.

The program opened with a sitar performance by Mr. Mani Akella, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a prayer to Lord Ganesha sung by the NJ Sisters. The national anthems of the United States and India were then played. Masters of ceremonies Dr. Shanti Eppanapally and Mrs. Lalita Rani guided the entire program smoothly, keeping the evening flowing as planned.

Smt. Usha Akella presented her Ganesha song and received the Excellence in Service Award for her dedication to teaching, mentoring, and nurturing students of all ages.

Smt. Subha Lakshmi Narayana received the Pride of DSG Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to singing, dancing, and the performing arts in India and the United States. Her enthusiasm, energy, and commitment as a mentor and motivator continue to inspire others.

In his presidential address, Mr. Kumar Rani reflected on his personal singing journey and his experience leading the group for more than two decades. He shared how real-life experiences shaped the group’s guiding principles and helped build a welcoming community where singers could share their talents and grow together.

On this special occasion, Mr. Kumar Rani and Mrs. Lalita Rani were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their unwavering commitment and contributions to leading and sustaining Music Group for two decades. Their dedication has created a welcoming platform for singers and brought families together through a shared love of music.

All donors and sponsors were recognized with special mementoes in appreciation of their generous contributions and support.

Forty talented singers shared their voices, filling the evening with melody, joy, and heartfelt performances. Each singer was honored with a customized golden microphone engraved with their name, a treasured keepsake of this milestone celebration.

The event was thoughtfully planned and beautifully organized. Festive banners and balloons enhanced the atmosphere, Rishtta Banquet Hall served delicious food, and a professional photographer captured memorable moments throughout the evening.

A dedicated website, DesiSingersGroup.org, designed and developed to serve our singing families and strengthen our community connections, was officially inaugurated during the celebration in the presence of all the gathered families.
